Wildlife camera adventures

I couldn’t wait to get our wildlife camera set up here. It turned out to be a bit ‘Animals of Farthing Wood’ in the area close to the old moat so I didn’t have to venture far for the action. It was here I captured my first badger which was thrilling. There is a big badger sett in the grounds and Maria wasn’t sure if it was still being used, although we’re still not sure if the rotund fellow caught on camera is a permanent resident or was just passing through. I also (unexpectedly) got our first pine marten sighting on the front lawn.

Here’s a short video I made with some of the clips from the camera (sound on):

It’s been great to use our wildlife camera to identify local wildlife but it also helps to understand what might be missing from the biodiversity mix. This helps guide our projects so we can create appropriate habitat to encourage new wildlife to move in.
